This photo was taken on mainstreet. It got so muddy and nasty that horses would frequently get stuck in downtown Smackover. My grandfather told me about a time when he was a kid, and saw a team of horses drown in a similar large mudhole.

Obviously every street that is not paved will get muddy, but the traffic that this small town dealt with, made for the worse.
